The Tapia Conference Scholarship Program facilitates attendance of those individuals otherwise unable to attend.  These scholarships cover travel, hotel accommodations, meals, and conference registration. Bridge Day - October 17 - Open for Scholarships, too!

This year marks the first time that the Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing and the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing are being held in the same location. On Bridge Day - Wednesday, October 17th - the Tapia 2007 Conference ends after the morning session and the Grace Hopper Conference begins with an evening reception. Bridge Day will informally bring students together from both conferences so that they can get to know one another, build their individual networks, and come to better understand their common issues.  Space in these activities is very limited. Selected students will be given support to attend one day of the other conference; that is, students attending Tapia will also attend the Thursday sessions of the Grace Hopper Conference and students attending Grace Hopper will also attend the Tuesday sessions of Tapia. Hotel accommodations for these extra days will be provided.

On Bridge Day itself, the selected students will:

  • Attend a keynote talk given in conjunction with the Tapia Conference
  • Take a technical, back-stage tour of Disney attractions at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot
  • Take part in a Disney Institute Team Building Exercise at Epcot
