Review Criteria for Tapia 2009

2009 Tapia Celebration
Review Criteria, Technical Program Submissions

Submissions will be refereed by a review committee based on the following review criteria. Referees are encouraged to provide detailed comments for each submission so that we can provide constructive feedback to authors when appropriate.

1. RELEVANCE: THE MATERIAL IS RELEVANT AND APPROPRIATE TO THE FIELD. In the case of Tapia 2009, the field is any area of computing, computational math and science, and diversity issues in those areas.

2. PRESENTATION: THE PRESENTATION OF THE MATERIAL IS CLEAR, COMPLETE, AND WELL ORGANIZED.

3. VALIDITY: THE CONCLUSIONS ARE SUPPORTED BY THEORY, DATA OR ANALYSIS, AS APPROPRIATE. The most important aspect of any technical presentation is whether it is correct.

4. INTEREST: THE MATERIAL WILL GENERATE INTERESTING DISCUSSIONS AT THE SESSION/CONFERENCE. Interest can come from the importance of the subject matter, the novelty of the research, unexpected results, or anything that piques the professional interest of attendees.

5. THEORY AND METHODOLOGY: THE THEORY, METHODOLOGY, AND ANALYSIS ARE APPROPRIATE FOR THE RESEARCH. This may vary by the material, ranging from surveys and sociological analysis to mathematical proofs and the theory and measurement of computing systems.

6. REFERENCES: APPROPRIATE LITERATURE IS REFERENCED. BOFs and Posters do not require references. Panels and Workshops should reference relevant literature where appropriate. Papers and Doctoral Consortium submissions must include bibliographies of relevant literature.

7. BOFs, PANELS, and WORKSHOPS ONLY: EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Combined expertise of the speakers that qualifies them as panelists/presenters.
