Scholarships for Tapia 2009

Scholarship applications are closed; applicants will be notified ASAP about their potential scholarships.. The Tapia Conference Scholarship Program facilitates attendance of those individuals otherwise unable to attend. Scholarships cover travel, hotel accommodations, meals, and conference registration. Scholarship award preference will be given to students and mentors (from academia, industry, or government) who plan to present posters, papers, panels, workshops, or are entered in the Robotics Competition at the conference.In addition, preference will be given to teams comprised of faculty and students. Scholarship awards are competitive and all individuals are expected to submit a good application.

Scholarship applicants should register after the list of scholarship awardees has been posted.

Application Instructions. Scholarship applications must contain:

Contact Information. This should include the applicant's full name, school name and address, home and email addresses, and phone number(s) where the applicant can be reached during the 2008-2009 academic year.

Essay (500 word limit). The essay should address the impact and benefit of your attendance at the conference. Be sure to include a statement of financial need, commitment to diversity as evidenced by activities, current service and research activities, as well as whether you plan to present at the conference.

Resume/CV. A maximum two-page resume/CV will be distributed to the conference supporters at the Silver level and above.

Letter of Recommendation (Students only). A letter of recommendation on university letterhead is requested from a faculty member. All letters of recommendation will be submitted via e-mail. URL link will be posted soon.

APPLICATION IMPORTANT DATES
Application Deadline: Midnight PST on Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Awardee Scholarship Notification: Thursday, January 15, 2009
Awardee Accepts/Decline Scholarship*: 11:59 pm EST on Friday, January 23, 2009

*If a response is not received by the awardee on January 23, 2009, the scholarship will be awarded to another participant in need.
If additional funds become available, late submissions may be considered.
