Supporter Opportunities at Tapia 2009


Because your organization is supportive of diversity in students and researchers, we ask that you consider becoming a supporter of the Tapia Conference 2009. This event will be highly visible and provide numerous opportunities for your organization to be well placed for involvement with the participants who include highly sought-after undergraduate and graduate students. In particular, support for Tapia 2009 has the following benefits:

  • Inclusion in our high-quality conference program, website and advertisements.

There are many opportunities for support including student scholarships, sponsorship of an event, and sponsorship of the Richard Tapia Award. Several targeted opportunities are listed below.

Conference Banquet (perhaps the highest exposure)
$40,000 SOLD!!!
This is the main conference banquet where all attendees (faculty, students, and industry) are invited.  The supporter will designate an opening speaker to introduce the banquet.
Friday April 3, 2008, 6:30- Until

Doctorial Consortium (event co-sponsorship opportunity with the NSF)
$10,000 - $20,000  (as designated by the supporter) SOLD!!
Wednesday April 1, 2009, 6:30am- 4:30pm
The Doctorial Consortium is a day-long event where PhD students present their research.  The supporter will provide funds to support lunch and travel for a specified number of the participants.  In addition, the supporter will have one-on-one time with the next-generation of computer science PhD graduates. Please speak to the fundraising committee for details.

Opening Reception
$25,000
This reception officially initiates the conference.  The supporter will designate a speaker to give the opening message.
April 1, 2009, 8pm

Poster Session
$15,000 PENDING
The poster session is an event where students present their research in an open forum.  The supporter of the poster session will get exposure during this intellectually-stimulating event in addition to presenting the prizes to the winners during the conference banquet.
April 2, 2009, 6-9pm

Early-Bird Breakfasts
$5,000
Early Bird breakfast allows a supporter to provide a hot breakfast to an invited set of students during the conference. This breakfast allows one-on-one time with students.
April 2,3,4  2008, 6:30am-8am  (3 opportunities)

Boxed Lunch
$5,000 -$8,000  (to be determined soon)
Boxed lunches are provided each day of the conference to allow participants to network openly. Supporters can sponsor 1 to 3 boxed lunch sessions.  This is an opportunity for companies to designate a location to invite and speak to students.
April 2,3, & 4,  2008 (morning and afternoon sessions)  (3 opportunities)

Coffee Breaks
$6,000
Coffee Breaks are provided morning and afternoon on each full day of the conference.  Supporters that sponsor a coffee break will be able to provide a table cloth and posters (for easels) to during the breaks.

Plenary Session or Moderated Panel
$7,500  2 of 4 have been SOLD!!
Supporters  can run their own plenary session or moderated panel.  In the past, supporter-sponsored resume and time management workshops have been a big hit.
April 2 & 3,  2008 (morning and afternoon sessions)  (2 opportunities left)

The 2009 Robotics Competition
$40,000
This will be the second year where the students will develop robotics during a special conference-long event. The supporter's funds or equipment donation will assist in purchasing the materials for the competition.
April 1-4, 2008  (a conference-long event)

Internet Connection Points
$10,000
The supporter's donation will be used to provide wireless connectivity to students throughout the conference.
April 1-4, 2008  (the entire conference)

Premium Locations for Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Supporters
$5,000 (Highest Traffic Area) and $2,500 (Very High Traffic Area)
The 2009 Conference venue has a wonderful layout.  There are areas where supporters can set up their exhibits that ensure that you have direct access with participants throughout the conference.

Interview Rooms and Special Meeting Rooms
$3,000 for half-day reservations
Supporters may want to run interviews or run special sessions during the conference. Several rooms are available for this opportunity. Please speak to the fundraising committee for details.

Special Onsite Receptions
$3,000 plus Food Costs
Their are two restaurants on-site and a special lower-level reception area.  Supporters can reserve any of these locations for special events.  Some stipulations will be made based on timing.  Please speak to the fundraising committee for details.

Conference Banner
$1,000
The conference displays a large banner near the plenary sessions.  A supporter can choose to provide donations to support the production of this banner.

Invited Lecturers
$1,000
Distinguished researchers/professionals will be invited to give opening talks at 4 of the conference technical sessions.  Supporters can "endow" the registration and travel for these invited lecturers.

Book, Software, & Clothing Exhibitors
$3,000 2 of 4 SOLD!!
There will be several days designated and special location for exhibitors to sell items during the conference.

Student Sponsorship
$1,800
Supporters can also donate funds to sponsor the travel for students to the conference.
