Tapia Celebration 2011 - Additional Conference Events

Additional Conference events on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

If you are interested in participating, login in to your conference registration and indicate your choice.

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory:

At LLNL, physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers, computer scientists and other researchers work together in multidisciplinary teams to achieve technical innovations and scientific breakthroughs that make possible solutions to critical problems of national and global importance.

Terascale Facility:
TSF is a 253,000-square-foot building that houses some of the world’s fastest supercomputers, including Dawn (BlueGene/P), BlueGene/L and ASC Purple. These amazing machines, which perform trillions of operations per second (teraFLOPS), support the Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) Program, a part of the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration and an important component of stockpile stewardship.

National Ignition Facility:
The NIF & Photon Science Principal Directorate is one of five directorates at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The directorate operates the National Ignition Facility (NIF), the world's largest and most energetic laser, which has the goal of achieving nuclear fusion and energy gain in the laboratory for the first time—in essence, creating a miniature star on Earth.

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Berkeley Lab Computing Sciences is home to the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center, the Department of Energy's leading center for scientific computing (4,000 users produce over 1,500 refereed papers annually), the Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) linking tens of thousands of scientists around the world, and world-class research programs in computer science, computational science and applied mathematics.

Based on the interests of Tapia attendees, we will arrange tours of Lab facilities and small discussion groups with some of our top researchers. After lunch, transportation will be provided to SFO.
