Nicholas Chen is currently a Researcher at Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK. His research is in Human-Computer Interaction, with a focus on interactive hardware. He also supervises undergraduate students at Corpus Christi College in the University of Cambridge. Before joining Microsoft, Nick received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Maryland but spent time at Cornell University as a visiting student after his advisor moved there. Nick has gone through the process of applying for multiple industry and academic jobs and can also discuss the transition from moving from academic to industrial research.
